Rotarians at Work Day April 26

Saturday, April 26, will see thousands of Rotarians, wearing “Rotarians At Work” (RAW) t-shirts, doing service projects in their communities to underscore their “Service Above Self” motto.

The event started in 2006 as a vision of then-San Diego County Rotary District 5340 Governor Bob Watson and included District 4100 with more than 134 projects in San Diego County and Baja, Mexico, involving several thousand people from 106 Rotary Clubs. The 2007 RAW day maintained that momentum.

The 2008 RAW day will expand to four Rotary districts, 227 clubs and some 13,210 Rotarians. In 2009, participation by 21 districts on three continents, involving 1,234 clubs and more than 60,000 Rotarians, is expected.

The Rotary Club of Fallbrook plans five projects:

1. Painting movable art displays at the Art Campus of Fallbrook

2. Painting floors at the Fallbrook Food Pantry

3. Trimming and cutting back oleander bushes at the Fallbrook Historical Society Museum

4. Cutting brush and cleaning up trails at Santa Margarita Park for the Fallbrook Land Conservancy

5. Highway 15 trash pick-up covering about five miles of roadway on both sides and in both directions from the Mission Road bridge

The Rotary Club of Bonsall will be busy at the Adult Day Care Center in Fallbrook, painting and doing some electrical work.

On Sunday, April 27, the Village Club of Fallbrook members will be working at the “Arts in the Park” event, put on by the Rally for Children. They will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs. All proceeds will go to Rally for Children. Last year they did this and were able to present them with a $2,000 check.
