George Robert "Bob" Hargreaves

George Robert “Bob” Hargreaves, 91, passed away April 21, 2008. He was born March 31, 1917, in Detroit, MI. A former 26-year resident of Fallbrook, CA, he lived in Black Butte Ranch in Central Oregon for 21 years.

Mr. Hargreaves was a 1938 graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts and worked for National Bank of Detroit from 1936 to 1941. He served in the US Navy from 1941 to 1946 and worked at Ford Motor Company in 1946 and United Laboratories from 1946 to1950. He was president of Towne Paulson Company in Pasadena, CA, where he worked from 1950 to 1976 when he retired.

He was a 21-year member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Sisters, OR. He enjoyed sports, especially golf and tennis.

Mr. Hargreaves was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and his first wife, Dorothy. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Mary Moore Hargreaves; sons Bruce, William, Richard and Jeffrey Hargreaves; daughters Anne Mealiffe and Nancy Kettenhofen; stepson Richard Moore; stepdaughters Polly Moore and Meg Duvall; sister Ruth Backhurst; and 13 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on May 10 at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Santa Barbara, CA, Cemetery.
