People's Choice Winner of Art of the Avocado announced

FALLBROOK — Congratulations to Cardiff artist Kevin Anderson, winner of the People’s Choice Award at the Avocado Festival for his large oil painting of two avocado halves that look absolutely ready-to-eat. The painting is owned by the Del Rey Avocado Company, 1260 South Main Avenue, and has been on display there for more than 25 years.

The People’s Choice Award is part of the Art of the Avocado Contest, held in conjunction with the annual Avocado Festival. The award is decided by all the people who visited the avocado art display during the festival and voted for their favorite piece. Hundreds of people participated and the deliciously portrayed avocado was the hands-down favorite.

The same painting was the overall winner of the Art of the Avocado Contest, selected by a panel of judges the week prior to the festival.

As the owner of the painting, Del Rey Avocado Company also received prize money but has graciously donated the prize to the Fallbrook Child Development Center.
