Local boutique will present 'Fashion Safari'

FALLBROOK — From the Rhinestone Cowgirl look of Sue Johnson’s Tarachel Collection to the Zulugrass beads made by the African Maasai Women, At Home on Main Street is putting on an event that will take customers on a “Fashion Safari.”

Marie Kinnaman, owner of At Home on Main Street, has been talking to Sue Johnson about doing a trunk show in her downtown shop for several years. According to Marie, “It is finally happening. We’re so excited to be having Sue bring her line of fabulous accessories, including custom-designed belt buckles, jewelry and denim jackets, to the shop for this special event.”

“We began the planning with the Tarachel Trunk Show and it grew from there into what we think will be the local fashion event of the season!” said Tracy Kinnaman, Marie’s daughter and event planner for the shop.

“Tracy attends several trade shows each year and is becoming a great buyer,” said Marie.

She discovered The Leaky Collection’s Zulugrass beads on a buying trip to New York last winter. The company is sending a representative armed with hundreds of strands to show the many ways to accent a wardrobe with the beads.

Also in the shop for the one-day event will be “Marina – The Handbag Lady,” whose beautifully handmade and embellished line of purses will be the perfect compliment for any outfit.

Marie’s creative team also includes her son Brian, who is responsible for executing the window displays she dreams up. Brian’s wife Paz is also involved in the fashion event, debuting her new line, One-Finch, which includes custom designed silk-screened clothing featuring whimsical designs of owls, peacocks and hummingbirds.

The Kinnamans are excited to have Fallbrook resident Terri Rogers coordinating the fashion show that will be ongoing throughout the day. Rogers once dressed Hollywood stars for their TV roles and will no doubt put together amazing outfits for the event.

At Home on Main Street started almost five years ago as a place to find great home accents and gifts and is now becoming known as the place to find comfortable, yet stylish, clothing and accessories.

This not-to-be-missed fashion event, and opportunity to find a great Mother’s Day gift, takes place on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The shop is located at 136 North Main in downtown Fallbrook. For information call (760) 728-9892.
