14th Annual Rainbow Days Picnic set for Saturday, May 24

The 14th annual “Rainbow Days” Picnic will be held Saturday, May 24, at Rainbow Park, located on Fifth St. (next to Vallecitos School) in Rainbow. The event, sponsored by the Rainbow Property Owners Association and supported by every civic organization in Rainbow, begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m.

Live music, provided by Franco, begins at 11 a.m. Over 40 area nurseries have donated top quality ornamentals, flowers, and fruit trees to the annual Plant Sale, which begins at 8 a.m. on the school grounds. All revenues go to support the interscholastic athletic program at Vallecitos School. Last year, the Plant Sale generated over $15,000 for local student athletes.

A complete picnic lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers with soft drinks will be available for $4. Activities include a swap meet and a variety of youth games. Prizes will be awarded for all games. Raffles will be held every half-hour, concluding with the raffling of a $100 bill.

The Rainbow Property Owners Association will also conduct the annual election of board members. New RPOA members signing up at the picnic will be eligible to vote and will receive free RPOA postcards.

For more information, contact RPOA president Craig Ohlson at (760) 723-2509.
