Fallbrook Youth Fair this Saturday

Fallbrook 4-H is preparing for the annual Youth Fair scheduled to take place at Fallbrook High School on May 17. This year, the fair will be held on one day only, so it will be packed with activity.

Starting at 7 a.m., a pancake breakfast sponsored by Fallbrook 4-H will feed the hungry 4-H and FFA members, their parents and guests. Breakfast will be served until 10:30 a.m.

After that, fair visitors can partake of BBQ beef sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, nachos, drinks and more until the tri-tip dinner sponsored by the beef group is served that evening. Come prepared to eat and support our 4-H and FFA!

Swine, goats, poultry and lambs will show in the morning and beef in the afternoon; then, exhibitors will demonstrate their skills in the Master Showmanship round robin.

Showmanship winners of each species in their age group rotate through the rings to show goats, sheep, beef and swine. The winners will be announced at the awards which will occur after the chickens on parade, beef raffle and “Kiss the Pig” contest. Hope everyone can come!

Fallbrook 4-H will have their last meeting of the year on June 2. They will be electing officers for next year’s board and honoring volunteer leaders.

The members will be busy after school is out preparing for the San Diego County Fair. Market Week runs June 29 to July 6 and the auction will take place July 4 at 10 a.m. at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

For more information about the auction or 4-H call (760) 723-6171.
