Fallbrook man killed in car accident

LAKE ELSINORE — On Monday, May 5, around 1:45 a.m., officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to the area of Lake Street and Cole Street in regard to a traffic collision.

According to an official report, upon arrival officers found a Hispanic woman lying outside a white 1999 Honda Accord along the east shoulder of Lake Street. Inside the vehicle officers found a Caucasian man deceased.

The man was later identified as Jason Clay Peters, 36, of Fallbrook. The identity of the woman has not been released.

Based on evidence found at the scene, it appeared the Honda was traveling northbound on Lake Street when it left the roadway and collided with a tree on the right passenger side.

The driver was transferred to Inland Valley Regional Medical Center for her injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
