Mission San Luis Rey event June 13

OCEANSIDE — Enjoy beautiful roses selected by Executive Director and Horticulturalist Friar James Lockman, OFM and celebrate the 210th anniversary of the Mission San Luis Rey.

The mission was founded on June 13, 1798. Sample the wines of the Mission San Luis Rey wine label in the award-winning rose garden recently doubled in size. Learn about the care and nurturing of roses and preview current rose varieties, including the mission heirloom rose.

The Mission San Luis Rey Wine Tasting Event will be held on Friday, June 13, from 4 to 6 p.m.

In conjunction with the wine tasting event, Friar Lockman will lead his popular horticultural tour of the mission from 2 to 4 p.m. The tour includes areas not generally accessible to the public, such as the meditation gardens, the Friars’ Garden and the Historic Well House.
