Music Men hosting blood drive

ESCONDIDO — The Music Men Chorus is giving the gift of music in exchange for the gift of life at their “Singing for Life” blood drive with the San Diego Blood Bank on Saturday, May 31, at the California Center for the Arts, 340 North Escondido Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The drive is part of a national initiative between the Barbershop Harmony Society and community blood centers to help raise awareness about the importance of donating blood. Medical research reports that someone needs blood every two seconds and one in 10 people admitted to the hospital will require transfusions.

As a special treat for donors at the drive, The Music Men will perform their signature four-part harmony while participants wait to donate.

Donors are also encouraged to join the Blood Bank’s Donor Difference loyalty program, where members are entitled to benefits, including the ability to track their total cholesterol, blood pressure and pulse.

To make an appointment, call (800) 469-7322 or visit http://www.sandiegobloodbank.org.
