If McCain had become president eight years ago

I like Sen. John McCain. I believe him to be an honorable man – though not liked by the party leaders or the radical Christian Right-wing. But that’s good – I don’t like the way our party has become so intolerant of everything but the bottom-line either!

Unfortunately for poor John, he’s running at the wrong time. He should have won the nomination eight years ago but was outfoxed by the clique from Texas. Just think how much better we’d all be if he had become President at that time.

In the first place, assuming that 9-11 would have happened anyway, he would have led a real search and destroy mission for Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan – and that troublemaker would be no more.

Secondly, since he’s not beholding to big business to the extent of Geo. Bush, he would not have led this nation into a war for oil and major defense spending against an impotent dictator in Iraq.

Yes, this means that Saddam would still be there – and still impotent and no threat to the US. The billions wasted on this phony war would still be in the Treasury, the economy would still be ‘bullish’ and there would be a good chance to vote another Republican into the White House in ’08.

As it is, we don’t have a prayer! Bush doesn’t care – he’s had his eight years and has done for the defense industry, Halliburton, Exxon and etc. everything he promised he’d do in 2000!
