Dancers entertain at 'Dancing Under Stars'

FALLBROOK — On Saturday evening, May 18, approximately 100 members of the Fallbrook Fifth Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other members of the Fallbrook community gathered for an evening of “Dancing Under the Stars.”

The audience was treated to a show of many forms of dance, beginning with a Viennese waltz danced by Robert and Janelle Craig to the accompaniment of Fallbrook’s own legendary singer Craig Heesch.

An on-point ballet solo followed, performed by Tressa Barrett, entitled “The Waltz of the Lilac Fairy” from the Sleeping Beauty Ballet.

A team of ballroom dancers performed a waltz to the music “Is it You,” the theme from the movie “Shrek.”

James and Christina Ungritch taught the amateur dancers especially for the evening’s performance. The dance team was made up of Fallbrook High School students, Fallbrook professionals and retired citizens.

Barrett performed another ballet to a vocal duet by Michelle Johnson and Carman Rindfleisch, “For Good” from the musical “Wicked.”

The evening concluded when children ages 2 through 8 performed a dance entitled “Tooty Ta” to the delight of parents and the audience.

After all performances were completed, the audience was invited to join in the “Macarena” and the “Cha-Cha Slide.”

A variety of hors d’oeuvres and desserts were offered to round out the evening.
