Healthy Woman Program concludes successful first year

Members, sponsors and business partners of the Healthy Woman Program celebrated the conclusion of the program’s first year at a gala Anniversary Event held May 22 at Vista Valley Country Club.

“It’s hard to believe that we kicked this off one year ago,” said Monique Murphy-Mijares, director of the Healthy Woman Advisory Council and marketing director of Fallbrook Hospital. “It’s been fabulous, incredible.”

Fred Capozello, interim Chief Executive Officer for Fallbrook Hospital, commended the efforts of the organization’s advisory council and the success achieved in the first year.

“This organization went from zero to over 700 members in one year,” Capozello said.

The evening’s festivities included a social hour, silent auction, dinner, recognition of sponsors and inspirational speakers.

Amidst a stunningly feminine décor with a pink theme, advisory council member Mary Ellen Langlois of Coldwell Banker Landmark Group gave an overview of the first year of the Healthy Woman Program and motivational speaker Fern Carness gave a humorous presentation with several serious underlying messages.

Carness, who is fighting terminal cancer, related many of her life’s experiences and gave insight on gender-based biology, the effect of emotions on the human body and more.

The Healthy Woman Program is a Fallbrook Hospital resource made possible through a community collaborative. It is comprised of monthly events designed to empower women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed healthcare and wellbeing decisions for themselves and their loved ones. The events are hosted by different sponsoring businesses and organizations and offer speakers on a variety of informative topics.

“The average attendance at each of our monthly events has averaged 90 women,” Langlois said.
