Support your local farmers

I am a small avocado farmer in Fallbrook. After last year’s frost I treated my orchard very intensively without any pesticides, using very limited water and organic fertilizers. I believed I was also conforming with the Rainbow water company’s request to reduce my usage.

Now my allotment is based on those months’ drastically reduced usage. I volunteered and reduced 40 percent myself and now they are imposing an additional 40-percent reduction. How can the county remain rural if there are no more farms?

My water bill went from $350 to $1,200 per month, and there is no one who will explain to me why my allotment is determined based on the lowest levels used, not an average over a season’s usage.

This doesn’t just affect me, Fallbrook. What do you want the future to look like for this wonderful community? Please support your local farmers – the beautiful atmosphere and country feel is why most of us live here.

Thanks from a neighbor for your time.
