Music Society unveils 2008-2009 lineup

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Music Society has unveiled the lineup for its 2008-2009 concert series, which features a wide variety of superb musical events.

Unique performances by nationally and internationally renowned ensembles in a wide array of musical listening experiences will be featured.

“We are proud to be a major presenter of world-class concerts right here in Fallbrook,” said Brenda Montiel, president of Fallbrook Music Society.

A Fallbrook favorite, the 23rd Annual Symphony “Pops” on the Green, will be the next event sponsored by the Music Society. It is slated for August 14. The San Diego Symphony Orchestra will present “Sing Out America” for the enjoyment of attendees.

This summer event will be held lakeside on the beautiful grounds of the Grand Tradition. Audience members are invited to bring friends and family, picnic dinners and blankets for this memorable evening of popular Americana works under the stars.

The five-concert Symphony Series begins this season on Sunday, October 12, with the return of the highly regarded Lucerne Festival Strings from Switzerland with Artistic Director Achim Fiedler.

On Sunday, November 2, the Redlands Symphony Orchestra will return for the first of three concerts they will perform during this season in Fallbrook.

A special event is scheduled for Friday, December 5, when the Don Morris Singers and Westwind Brass perform a concert of familiar Christmas music. Each group will perform individually as well as together.

The two-concert Virtuoso Series will take place on Sunday, January 18, with the Tagi Trio and Sunday, March 8, with the Conjunto Ibérico cello octet. Both of these concerts feature internationally renowned musicians offering unique experiences in classical music and world culture.

The acclaimed Tagi Trio, with clarinet, cello and piano, excels in music of the great classics to present day familiar and jazz compositions. Conjunto Ibérico from Amsterdam, widely recognized for its perfection as a cello octet, will energize the audience with the rhythmic dynamism of the music of Spain and Latin America brimming with Mediterranean passion. Spanish mezzo-soprano Elena Gragera will join the group.

The Salzburg Chamber Soloists from Austria, with renowned pianist Andreas Klein, will make their first appearance in Fallbrook March 22.
