Dispose of unwanted items through voucher program

FALLBROOK — Costs are rising on everything, including the cost of responsibly disposing of unwanted items. Keep Fallbrook Clean and Green has started a new voucher program to help ease this growing economic hardship.

Those eligible for the voucher program must live in either an apartment complex or a mobile home park within the Fallbrook Neighborhood Revitalization Area, bordered by Hillcrest Lane on the north, Stage Coach on the east, Reche/Palomino on the south and Alturas on the west in the downtown area of Fallbrook.

The voucher program allows the user to drop off up to four household items to Fallbrook Waste and Recycling, located at 550 West Aviation Road, at any time during regular hours for free.

The program lasts until December and was established not only to reduce trash buildup but also to help with the cost of dropping items off at Fallbrook Waste and Recycling.

Acceptable items include furniture, refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, hot water heaters and other residential items. Items that will not be accepted include construction debris, business items, tires, household hazardous waste, electronic waste, microwaves, green waste or small items that would ordinarily fit into a standard (35-gallon) household trash container.

Fallbrook Waste and Recycling will verify, with a picture ID containing a current address, that the driver of the truck is the same person as the one identified on the coupon/voucher.

This program is made possible through grant funding by Supervisor Bill Horn’s Special Funds.

Many apartment complexes and mobile home parks in Fallbrook are already participating with Keep Fallbrook Clean and Green in this voucher program. Residents can contact their resident manager to see if their complex is already a participant.
