Children's cooking, etiquette, educational mini-camps

FALLBROOK — Beginning in July, thanks to a new business called The Workshop Connection, children will be able to choose from classes such as “Passport Lunch Bunch,” a cooking class covering various countries around the world; “Cook and Books,” combining the world of literature and the culinary arts; and “Super Science,” which will give kids a magical glimpse into the science of cooking and many more.

Experienced and knowledgeable instructors have designed each class to promote the development of essential skills such as following directions, teamwork, measurement, basic math, science and social interaction.

The Workshop Connection has been established by longtime Fallbrook resident Mercy Visser and classes will be held at the Lace Apron, 118 North Main Avenue.

“The vision behind the Workshop Connection is to bring back the simple art of family living,” Visser said. “Our goal is to provide a wholesome, educational and fun atmosphere which encourages arts and skills such as cooking, decorating, sewing, crafts and etiquette along with parenting classes. This summer is dedicated to our local children. I designed The Workshop Connection’s classes with a family focus and all-encompassing childhood development in mind.”

To register for a class, complete a registration form at The Lace Apron or at http://www.theworkshopconnection.com.

Adult workshops will begin in September, featuring “Intro to Sushi-Making,” “The Art of Tamale-Making,” “Tablescape Designs,” “Wine-Pairing” and other courses. Call (760) 512-1573 for more information.
