Wake up, Fallbrook

To add to my May 29 letter on Camp Pendleton’s water, the mother of a wounded Marine living on this base informed me Camp Pendleton is still flushing its water mains quarterly to remove unacceptable sediment levels. At times her bathtub water is the color of tea and she finds it impossible to eliminate the brown coloring from washed clothes. Base sidewalks are also colored brown from irrigation water. This is the same water the Santa Margarita Conjunctive Use Project will assign to FPUD.

During the 2004 FPUD Directorship campaign Chairman Don McDougal stated he supports the Santa Margarita Conjunctive Use Project, “which would provide district customers with a locally generated, inexpensive and clean water source.” He called me “divisive” (NCT, 11/13/04). Where is this clean, inexpensive water, McDougal? Navy carriers produce desalinated water with less than 1 ppm total solids.

McDougal objected to my criticism of FPUD’s wasteful, bad business dealings, which always raised Fallbrook’s water/sewage costs. Ex-director Arne Gunnersson, my hero, always voted against excessive spending by FPUD during his 12-year service but was often attacked and discriminated against by other board members for his conservative (divisive) fiscal policies.

Gunnersson claimed he lost money due to FPUD’s ridiculous $40 per meeting allowance with no car allowance. He would consider running again if two other fiscal conservatives ran with him.

If FPUD succeeds, Fallbrook will no longer be the “Avocado Capital of the World.” Wake up, Fallbrook farmers. Remove all present FPUD directors or be destroyed.
