Fallbrook wins third in a row over Oceanside in cribbage

On May 29, 35 cribbage players met at the Vista Elks Lodge for the May Senior Challenge Cribbage match. The Fallbrook Senior Center cribbage team easily won the match by outscoring the Oceanside Senior Center team 72 wins to 54 wins.

The top pegger was Fallbrook’s Luella Brotherton with six wins and two skunks. Second place was claimed by Oceanside’s Carl Troupe with six wins but no skunks. His point spread was 18 better than third place Wilf Ash.

Fourth through eighth places all had five wins and one skunk. In order by point spread were Virginia Ballard, Ed Wozniak, Anne Flaherty, Ray Lanoue and Tom Waterbury.

The Ralph’s grocery store on Oceanside Boulevard donated a $25 gift card that was won by Ethel Williams of the winning Fallbrook team.

Matches are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Vista Elks Lodge, 1947 East Vista Way. The Lodge can be contacted by phone at (760) 724-1968. The next match will be June 26. Play begins at 12:30 p.m. and the Lodge is open for lunch beginning at 11:20 a.m.

All who enjoy cribbage are invited to participate. Residence in Oceanside or Fallbrook is not necessary.
