Military saluted at July 4 event

FALLBROOK — The Grand Tradition Fourth of July event will feature a special salute to the United States military.

The Fallbrook Beautification Alliance (FBA), which sponsors the annual festival, wants to pay special tribute this year to the men and women who honor America with their service.

The flag presentation will be by members of the North County Fire Protection District, who are representing all the North County fire departments who so gallantly fought last October’s fires.

Retired Air Force Colonel Carroll Njust will lead the Pledge of Allegiance followed by singing of the National Anthem by Kate Derr, Miss Fallbrook 2007.

Each branch of the service will be acknowledged with their service song and all military personnel – active, served and retired – will be asked to stand.

Explorer Scouts Dennis Sorjano, Sean Mulroy, Ian Quigley, Cody Schueneman and Dylan Keply from Post 2704 will present the military service flags.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m.
