Old-fashioned fun offered at archaeology center

ESCONDIDO — Families, youth groups and life-learners are invited to relax and have fun during an old-fashioned summer day event on Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“School’s Out: Summer Days in San Pasqual Valley” is presented by the San Diego Archaeology Center in collaboration with the San Dieguito River Park.

Interactive stations will be set up around the center where participants will have the opportunity to create tussy mussys and rag dolls, scrub clothes on a wooden washboard, punch leather and play games of marbles and jacks.

Refreshments reminiscent of past summer days will be available for enjoyment.

Participants should bring plenty of drinking water, wear appropriate foot and head gear and be prepared to have fun. The center museum will also be open for further educational and engaging experiences.

There will be no charge for center members. There will be a cost of $10 for non-members, with a maximum $25 charge for a family. Reservations are required; the deadline is July 10.
