On June 15, North County Fire emergency workers rescued an 87-year-old man from his vehicle following a single-car accident on Highway 76 about three-fourths of a mile west of Rice Canyon Road. The man lost control of his vehicle, which was traveling at a speed of between 50 and 60 mph. After his car barreled down a 30-foot embankment, it burst into flames.

Responding to the accident scene and rescuing the driver were teams from North County Fire Stations 4 and 5 and Pala.
