Democrats to screen JFK documentary

The Fallbrook Democratic Club will celebrate Independence Day at their July 3 meeting with a nostalgic screening of “Thank You, Mr. President,” a documentary hosted by E.G. Marshall, highlighting clips of the more than 60 televised press conferences given by John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States.

Many of these clips (circa 1961-1963) are serious in nature, such as the aftermath of the failed “Bay Of Pigs” invasion of Cuba in April 1961. Others showcase President Kennedy’s unparalleled humor, razor-sharp wit and his willingness to (on occasion) not take his office too seriously.

Anne Burdick will give a brief presentation about local elections prior to the film.

The meeting will be held Thursday, July 3, at 7 p.m., in the FPUD board room at 990 East Mission Road. For more information, call (760) 451-1959.
