Two collisions result in major injuries

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has reported that two different collisions, one on Friday, June 20, and the other on Sunday, June 22, in Fallbrook resulted in major injuries.

On June 22 at approximately 12:25 a.m., an accident occurred when the driver of a 2002 Nissan Sentra, traveling northbound at about 80 miles per hour on Live Oak Park Road, lost control of his vehicle and collided with a power pole.

Officers said the driver of the vehicle was Raymond Proctor Jr., 20, of Fallbrook. Proctor was accompanied in the vehicle by Matthew Carlin, 20, and a 17-year-old male, both of Fallbrook.

Carlin and the 17-year-old were transported to Palomar Medical Center with major trauma injuries.

Officers said that although Proctor complained of pain after the accident, he elected to secure medical aid on his own.

On June 20 at approximately 4:30 a.m., CHP officers say Fallbrook resident Michael Norton, 20, lost control of his 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue while driving westbound on SR76 just east of Gird Road.

For unknown reasons, Norton allowed his vehicle to cross over the double yellow lines and into the eastbound lane, where he collided head-on with a 1996 Toyota Corolla driven by Adolfo Barriento, 42, of Oceanside.

Both Norton and Barriento were transported to Palomar Medical Center with major trauma injuries.

Officials said neither alcohol nor drugs was a factor in these collisions.
