Horsemanship courses offered

Fallbrook Community Center and Gayle Lawrence are offering three horsemanship classes this summer.

For 3- to 6-year-olds and an accompanying parent, “Mom & Me Horsemanship” will introduce young riders to the basics of safety and riding under the guidance of a certified instructor. One-hour classes meet at various times throughout the week, including Saturdays. Six-week class sessions are scheduled from June through August.

“So You Want to Own a Horse?” is offered for those looking into buying or leasing a horse. Students will learn about the time, energy and money involved in feeding, grooming and caring for a backyard horse.

The class will also cover veterinary care, hoof care, choosing feed and finding a riding club or instructor in the area. The class will be on Saturday, July 12, from 3 to 5 p.m.

“Back in the Saddle” is a class for those interested in riding. Ages 18 and up, either relearning or learning for the first time, can enjoy going through all of the basics of horsemanship.

“Back in the Saddle” classes, held Tuesdays and Saturdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., runs through the beginning of August.
