Fourth of July celebration to have many features

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Beautification Alliance will again be hosting a Fourth of July celebration from 4 to 9.30 p.m. at the Grand Tradition.

The event will start with a military salute and end with a magnificent fireworks display at the beautiful lakeside setting.

Entertainment will include music and show by the Corvettes, expanded children’s activities and the “Quack-Up Cup” race.

Exciting additions this year include a remote-controlled boat race. The boats are fuel-powered and a miniature version of the ‘Miss Budweiser’ boat.

Three teams will compete for a prize of $250. The competitors are three local businessmen: Joe Janikowski of Janikowski Construction, Dave Reidmuller of Joe’s Hardware and Mark McDougal of the Grand Tradition. Sean Fahnestock of Jim’s Sign Shop will be providing custom graphics to personalize the boats of each competitor. Anyone interested in participating next year may contact Mark McDougal at (760) 728-6466.

There will also be a “Rubber Regatta” demonstration race, which will consist of teams of four people in inflatable boats racing/rowing around the Grand Tradition’s lake. Anyone interested in forming a team for next year’s event may call Don McDougal at (760) 275-4708.

The July 4 event is the main fundraiser for the Fallbrook Beautification Alliance. Prizes for the rubber duck race include a $1,000 Savings Bond, $500 Major Market gift certificate and several $250 gift certificates from local businesses. Chances start at $5 each and winners need not be present to win.

There will also be a silent auction which includes a 10.94 San Diego pink tourmaline, valued at $1,750, donated by The Collector.

Tickets and race chances are available through http://www.fallbrookbeautification.org. Cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children and includes a chicken or barbecue beef dinner. Hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, popcorn, wine, beer and soft drinks will also be available.

Blankets, lawn chairs, sunscreen and hats are recommended. Do not bring food, drink, umbrellas or pets.

Tickets can also be purchased at Major Market, Ace Party Productions and Fallbrook Area Visitors Bureau. Call (760) 451-3282 for details.
