Harriman to attend historic inauguration

FALLBROOK — Maggie Harriman, daughter of Dean and Deanne Harriman of Fallbrook, has been invited to attend the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference (PYIC) in Washington, DC, to take part in the inauguration of the 44th President and Vice President of the United States.

As an alumna of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference, Maggie and her fellow alumni will be honored at the inaugural conference as distinguished young leaders and scholars.

“The Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference will provide students with an opportunity to take part in historic events that coincide with the inauguration of the President of the United States,” said Mike Lasday, executive director of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council, the organization that sponsors PYIC. “Something that is really wonderful about so many young people gathering in Washington, DC, for this event is that it will provide them a chance to become more familiar with and attuned to the president who will govern our country over the next four years. We certainly hope this will inspire the next generation of US leaders.”

Maggie just graduated from Zion Lutheran School, where she served as the ASB president.

“I now have a better understanding of what it takes to be a good leader and to serve in leadership,” she said. “It’s difficult to accomplish everything you want or feel you have served your community to the best of your abilities. I feel I have a better appreciation of our country’s leaders and how difficult it is to serve all the people of a nation. I am excited and honored to be able to witness such an important event in our country’s history.”

Maggie will attend Fallbrook High School as a freshman this fall.
