Day of Scottish fun and more offered to seniors

FALLBROOK — Local seniors will have a special treat at their next monthly meeting at the Fallbrook Senior Center on Tuesday, July 8, at 9:30 a.m.

George McLachlan, from Scotland, and his daughter, Diane Dewenter, will entertain with a medley of songs. McLachlan, who still has his Scottish brogue, entertains annually at a golfers’ St. Patrick’s Day party.

Dewenter sang in the Long Beach State choral group. She also worked at Hope University in Anaheim, a facility for Down syndrome and other handicapped patients, as a music therapist.

After the musical portion of the entertainment, Joe Fahey, first vice president, will show a video of highly rated comedian Yakov Smirnoff, who has his own theater in Branson, MO.

The center encourages a large turnout for this unusual program.

Refreshments prepared by member Jean Lockett will be served. Each person attending will receive a free lunch ticket for Tuesday only.

Bingo will be played at 12:30. Cards are $1 each and there will be many prizes. Again, refreshments will be served.

On Wednesday, July 9, at 10 a.m. the Knit Wits will meet at the senior center. The knitters are preparing items for baby showers to be held in the near future.

Donations of yarn are gratefully accepted and can be dropped off at the office. For details, call GiGi at (760) 728-9074.
