Wellness Family Campout for fire survivors

There will be a Wellness Family Campout from Friday afternoon, July 25, through Sunday morning, July 27, at La Jolla Indian Campground, 22000 Highway 76, Pauma Valley, for survivors of the 2007 firestorm. There will be no fees for the camp but reservations are required.

Survivors are invited to relax and enjoy a change of scene, sharing experiences, rebuilding communities and restoring relationships. Meals will be provided. Those who don’t camp can join the others Saturday for a special day of community activities.

Camping gear (tents and sleeping bags) may be available; call centers to confirm. This event is alcohol- and drug-free. For more information about what will be happening, drop in or call the local Recovery Center and discover the resources and support available to fire survivors. Tax-deductible donations for this project can be sent to Community Recovery Team, Inc., 10035 Blossom Valley Rd., El Cajon, CA 92021.

Interested residents should contact their local Community Fire Recovery Center for information and RSVP by July 15. Campers will not be admitted unless they have proof of registration from their Fire Recovery Center. The local center is the Fallbrook Area Community Recovery Center, (760) 451-3473, 325 East Mission Road.

All Fire Recovery Centers are supported through grants from the San Diego Regional Disaster Fund, a supporting organization of The San Diego Foundation.
