'Sing Out, America' features San Diego Symphony Orchestra

FALLBROOK — For more than 20 years, Fallbrook Music Society has brought the thrill of live symphony performances to town in the Symphony “Pops” on the Green concert.

This year’s event on Thursday, August 14, featuring the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, promises to be one of the best ever, with selections from some of the most familiar music in an inspiring evening at the Grand Tradition.

The program will begin as members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1924 march to the stage and conduct a color guard flag presentation.

As the orchestra plays each military service anthem in the Armed Forces Salute, the flag representing that service will be lowered. The National Anthem will immediately follow. “America the Beautiful” and John Philip Sousa’s rousing “Stars and Stripes Forever” will conclude the evening.

In between there will be an exciting exploration of classic and Americana music as well as some of America’s most familiar and dynamic melodies.

Complete barbecue picnic dinners by Sweet Lumpy’s BBQ of Temecula can be ordered. Dinners ($19 per person) include a choice of seasoned beef, pulled pork or smoked chicken, coleslaw, potato salad and baked beans, cornbread, chocolate brownie and a choice of beverage. Concertgoers can choose to bring their own meals or snacks. Beverages will be available for purchase on-site.

The Music Society also encourages those attending to bring blankets and low chairs for lawn seating or order a reserved table for four, six or 10 people, available by reservation through the Fallbrook Music Society’s box office.

General admission tickets for the event are $25 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Concert and dinner tickets may be purchased at Major Market in Fallbrook, http://www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org or by calling (760) 451-8644.
