Proud to be a part of Fallbrook

During the last Hot Summer Nites, I accompanied the very gregarious Bob Hamilton, Democratic candidate for congressman, down Main Avenue as he greeted visitors and introduced himself. I was wearing my “funny Democratic hat” soliciting voter registrations. As we passed two old gentlemen seated on a bench, I overheard one turn to the other and say under his breath, “Democrats! You mean we got them in town now?”

I was highly amused. Later, as some of us were comparing stories about “Democrats in Fallbrook,” one native born senior recounted the bad old days in Fallbrook when Democrats were equated with Communists. How things have totally changed. This is now very much a two-party town and the Democrats have now opened a new campaign headquarters at the head of Main.

We do this primarily for our favorite son, Bob Hamilton, and for Grey Frandsen, running for California Assemblyman. We are tired of Fallbrook being sold out by Representative Darrell Issa, who is supporting the so-called “Liberty” quarry pit on our northern border. Both Democratic candidates Hamilton and Frandsen are adamantly opposed to this giant open pit mine, proposed to be one of the largest in the nation.

Yes, we do have Democrats in Fallbrook. A fact largely unknown: San Diego County has more Democrats than any other county in California, except for Los Angeles County. We even have more Democrats than the county of San Francisco. And we are determined to get this country back on track.
