You think things are bad now

To the liberals, President Bush is responsible for everything that has gone wrong. And to the extent that the top official is responsible, they are right. I expect when their “savior,” Barack Obama, is in office and things go bad, it will be because of the residual effect of the Bush years. Liberals are not known for accepting any responsibility.

This is probably the most important election in a long time. A word of caution to the Obama supporters: his position against free trade and for raising taxes mimics policies implemented in 1930 during the Hoover administration. The Smoot-Hawley trade bill significantly raised tariffs and adversely affected trade. Taxes were raised with negative effect. Economists generally agree that these two measures did great damage to the economy and were largely responsible for the severity of the depression.

Let’s hope that Obama changes his thinking when in office and doesn’t make the same mistake. I was a child during the Great Depression and for those complaining about things today, you have no idea how bad things (were and) could be.

Maybe we should vote for the Libertarian Bob Barr!
