Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' coming to Moonlight

VISTA — Moonlight Stage Productions continues the summer season with the musical celebration “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” playing July 30 through August 10.

In this retelling of the famous Bible story, Joseph is a young man who is his father’s favorite child, able to interpret dreams, and the bearer of an amazing coat. These facts lead Joseph’s 11 brothers to become insatiably jealous.

The show’s family-friendly storyline, universal themes and catchy music have made “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” one of the most popular productions in musical theater.

The show’s earliest incarnation was as a school production in London of 1968. It finally made it to Broadway in 1982, 10 years after Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s next project, “Jesus Christ: Superstar,” became a success.

The production will be performed at the Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista’s Brengle Terrace Park, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive. Curtain time is 8 p.m. For tickets, call (760) 724- 2110.
