Palomar College fall classes are open

SAN MARCOS — Fall semester classes at Palomar College begin August 25. In addition to traditional semester-length classes, the college offers a variety of learning options, including fast track, self-paced, late start, online and TV classes. Cost for tuition is $20 per credit for California residents.

“There are so many reasons why Palomar College is a smart choice,” said Dr. Candice Francis, Palomar’s Dean of Mathematics and the Natural and Health Sciences. “From nursing to computer science to aviation to radio and television, Palomar’s fall class schedule includes all kinds of opportunities for anyone interested in enhancing their career, sharpening their skills or learning something new just for fun.”

With two new nursing faculty members on board, Palomar’s expanded nursing program now serves more students, with evening and weekend classes. In computer science and information systems, students can work toward degrees or certificates in database administration (DBA), video game programming and web development, to name a few choices.

For those interested in flying, Palomar now provides graduates from Palomar’s aviation sciences programs the opportunity to obtain a BS degree in Aviation Management through a partnership with Southern Illinois University (SIU).

Students can complete their AA degree in Aeronautical Operations and Management from Palomar and can then continue with weekend classes offered by SIU to fulfill the BS requirements.

Palomar’s radio and television program has courses including television acting and broadcast writing as well as film and video production and editing. Other program offerings include the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate program, the insurance certificate program, a variety of options in performing arts and visual arts, plus many more.

Those interested may apply and enroll online at http://www.palomar.edu or call (760) 744-1150, ext. 2160, for more information.
