First-time homebuyer conference scheduled

FALLBROOK — A free all-day seminar designed to acquaint first-time homebuyers with programs as well as current requirements for homeownership is scheduled for Saturday, August 16.

Stephanie Murphy, a consultant with Money Management International and lead presenter, said attendees will get up-to-date information about government support programs as well as tips on meeting their obligations to maintain their new home.

The seminar, which starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m., will be held at the Fallbrook Public Utility District offices at 990 East Mission Road. Lunch will be served.

“Despite sour national news concerning increases in foreclosures and expanding inventories, there are several locally funded programs and incentives in place to help those who’ve never owned a home before take the first steps toward buying their first home,” Murphy said. “Many area residents are unfamiliar with opportunities at all levels of government to help them get loans and meet their obligations as homeowners. These seminars, sponsored by San Diego County’s Down Payment Assistance Program, are obligation-free for attendees.”

Attendees can register for the free seminar online at http://www.crediteducation.org.

Representatives from Wells Fargo Bank and RE/MAX United, a San Diego real estate firm, will be in attendance to provide background information in their respective areas of expertise.
