La Paloma sixth-graders enjoy year-end bash

Ending their elementary years in swashbuckling style, the La Paloma sixth grade class splashed, danced and laughed the day away on June 10 at the Boys & Girls Club.

Parent volunteers and teachers transformed the gym into a rockin’ Pirates’ Cove and, along with organizing help from computer lab teacher Brittney Harris, created a memorable time for the students.

Ready for a day of fun, the kids were surprised by an invasion of their party by pirates! “Captain Jack Sparrow” and “Bo’Sun Shred” of PiratesForHire.com not only donated prizes for the opportunity drawing but also shared their amazing buccaneer skills with the kids as they performed sword-fighting displays and gave tutorials.

The children took part in many activities, including swimming, outdoor games on the district lawn and indoor games in the club’s game room. Music, dancing and pictures took place on the “cove” in the gym.

During the day, students earned tickets for good behavior; those tickets were entered into a random drawing for prizes at the party. More than 200 smiling faces proved that it was outstanding way to wrap up their sixth grade experience.
