New disaster preparedness class offered

FALLBROOK — The latest earthquake “reminder” that shook Southern California brought to mind the need for being prepared for an earthquake – or any disaster, such as last October’s horrendous firestorm.

James Beebe, fire prevention specialist and instructor of North County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), has announced the beginning of a new preparedness class series, free of charge, for community members.

The series of nine classes includes instruction on fire suppression, search and rescue, terrorism, (trauma) psychology and medical operations, with a drill at the end of the classes. Classes are on Tuesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. beginning September 9.

Classes will be at Living Waters Church, 2000 Reche Road.

To register, visit http://www.northcountycert.com or contact James Beebe at (760) 723-2010, Mike Crain at (760) 803-6550 or Millie Martin at (760) 500-7473.
