Temecula Presents season announced

TEMECULA — The Temecula Presents 2008-2009 season will feature a lineup of 26 world-class artists and 31 performances, including many artists and companies making their Old Town Temecula Community Theater or West Coast debuts.

This third season is comprised of four different categories: Dance, Friday Night Groove, Classical Music and Big Band/Cabaret Orchestra concerts.

Dance

Expect to see some of the finest talent ever in the variety of performances on this year’s schedule. One example is the acclaimed Limón Dance Company, who will make their West Coast premier in Temecula as they celebrate the centennial of their founder, Jose Limón. The series also includes San Francisco’s Smuin Ballet, Odyssey Dance Theatre from Utah and Aspen Santa Fe Ballet.

Friday Night Groove

Friday Night Groove kicks off the weekend with some excitement. It will feature blues legend Johnny Winter, country/rock artist Reagan Boggs, Zac Harmon, The Derailers (honky-tonk), The Blasters (rockabilly) and Peach (blues/jazz).

Classical Music

The California Chamber Orchestra will perform several concerts under the skillful baton of Warren Gref. Talented pianist Pnina Beecher will perform “A Scarlatti Soirée” and brilliant musicians from Italy, Interpreti Veneziani, and the Cecilia String Quartet from Canada will lend their talent to the series.

Big Band/Cabaret Orchestra

Big band lovers will be glad to hear Richard Stover will be bringing back his All Star Big Band and OnStage Cabaret Orchestra for another tremendous season. These powerful performances are typically sellouts, so get tickets early!

Third Anniversary Highlight

A special third anniversary celebration on Saturday, October 4, will feature legendary recording artist Don McLean. Tickets to this event are available initially through series subscriptions, so those interested in this event are encouraged to get their orders in early to ensure availability.

According to Old Town Temecula Community Theater’s Manager and Temecula Presents curator Bruce Beers, “Our audiences have come to trust the quality of the performers that Temecula Presents brings to the stage and they discover the great entertainment value so close to home.”
