Actor with 'passion for going green' to appear locally, Ed Begley Jr. to join in At Home on Main Street's Re-Creation Party

Accomplished actor Ed Begley Jr., a familiar face in films, television and theater productions, will visit Fallbrook on Saturday, September 6, to help celebrate At Home on Main Street’s Re-Creation Party.

In addition to having appeared on popular shows such as “Boston Legal,” “Arrested Development,” “St. Elsewhere” and “Six Feet Under,” Begley has been regarded as an environmental leader in the Hollywood community for many years. He routinely lends his support to notable causes and devotes his time to encouraging Americans to “go green.”

Marie Kinnaman, owner of At Home on Main, and her daughter, Tracy Kinnaman, who have always been environmentally conscious and worked steadily to incorporate more and more “green” merchandise into the popular downtown store, will debut another significant expansion of these efforts at the Re-Creation Party.

“We are proud of this,” Tracy said. “That’s why we are having a big event.”

Guests will not only see some of the sustainable and socially responsible clothing, home décor, kitchen items and gift choices the store has offered in the past but newly added inventory from around the globe and a new store décor.

All products will now carry one of the following qualities: recycled, organic, locally made, reclaimed, sustainable, fair trade, vintage or natural.

“We are redecorating and refreshing everything,” Marie said. “We have built a really nice dressing room that we think our customers will be pleased with.”

With more and more Fallbrook residents understanding the benefit of being more environmentally conscious and seeking out “green” merchandise, Marie is the perfect local merchant to step into the forefront, given her history in conservation.

“I know there are a lot of Fallbrook residents who care about the environment,” Marie said. “This is not a trend; it’s the new norm.”

“Consumers are getting very savvy,” Tracy added. “They now want to know the where and why of products.”

Marie explained that her family has always believed and participated in recycling. Known for her television appearances as an interior “re-designer,” Marie has always enjoyed recycling pieces into future use by cleverly repositioning them or using them for a new purpose.

Sharing her talent with others will also be part of the celebration. Marie said she has decided to offer workshops at the store in which she can share her techniques and bring other speakers to share knowledge with others.

“If you loved this store before, you’ll really love it now,” Marie smiled.

The store will be closed through September 5 for interior work.

At Home on Main Street will reopen Saturday, September 6, at 10 a.m. Begley will be onsite at the celebration from noon to 1:30 p.m. He will also be pleased to sign copies of his new book, “Living Like Ed.” Refreshments will be served.
