Diabetes Support Group has new location, time

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Diabetes Support Group has become so popular that its location has been moved to better accommodate the growing numbers!

The new meeting place is the Regency Retirement and Assisted Living Community at 609 East Elder Street (across the street from Fallbrook Hospital). The dining room at Regency promises to hold more people; however, the time will need to move to 2 to 3 p.m. to provide for cleanup time after lunch.

The next meeting, on September 24, will feature a very important topic for those with diabetes: “Are You Eating Right for Your Heart? What you need to know to have a heart-healthy diet.” Speaker Joyce Berenson is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator.

Two out of three people with diabetes die from heart disease and stroke. Heart attacks occur earlier when people have diabetes and often result in death. But, the risk of heart disease can be decreased through control of blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol, all of which require proper nutrition.

Residents are welcome to come and learn at this free monthly support group for people with diabetes and those who care for and about them.

For more information, call the Fallbrook Hospital Education Department at (760) 731-8246.
