Local Explorers graduate from academy

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department graduated four Fallbrook students from the Law Enforcement Explorer Academy. The summer academy session was an intensive eight-day live-in course held at UC San Diego in August. Students came from all over California to participate, including the new Explorers from Fallbrook: Rodrigo Campos, Antonio Pacheco, Alexandria Rodriguez and Aaron Thielk.

For the students it was rigorous emersion training in criminal law, patrol procedures, report writing, defensive tactics and physical fitness. After graduation these Explorers will be involved in community service work organized by the various sheriff’s stations through out San Diego County.

In addition to law enforcement, the Explorers learned about being good leaders and also about being good followers. They learned about being responsible for themselves and others. Students worked hard from 6 in the morning until 10 at night and for many the experience was life-changing.

They now understand that as a nation of laws, good citizenry and law enforcement are its foundation. And if they didn’t already know this they learned that the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is truly an outstanding organization. The training was hard work but somehow through it all they had fun.

This was only possible by the dedication and hard work of Deputy Hector Palafox and others who gave so much of their time to this program.
