FPUD catastrophe

Well, I have been sitting back and reading all of the letters to the editor and finally I must put my two cents in. I just received my latest water/sewer bill. When you look at your latest bill you will also be outraged. It is time we get in contact with the County District Attorney. Who cares about the potable water situation? What everyone should be interested in are the constant raises in operations charge and sewer charges.

I pulled out my latest bills and this is what they reflect: bill ending 2/14/07: operations charge $55.22, sewer $78.78; bill ending 2/13/08: operations charge $59.30, sewer $85.56; bill ending 8/12/08: operations charge $69.74, sewer $91.92.

In one and a half years, my operations charge has increased $14.52 and sewer has increased $13.14.

They also have included a new charge labeled Capitol Improvement Charge that was $4 on the 2/13/08 bill and today, 8/12/08, the bill shows a $2 increase, making it $6. This calculates to a $29.66 increase.

Do they not realize a recession is looming? Do they not realize people are losing their homes? Do they not realize there are many senior citizens living on Social Security? Do they not realize there are many people trying to find money to pay for their groceries and medications?

FPUD needs to explain why the increases have been made. Mr. McPhee, please run for the next upcoming election. I will most definitely vote for you and so will my daughter’s family.
