Section of Old Hwy 395 closed

Rainbow Municipal Water District (RMWD) and the County of San Diego have reported that a short portion of Old Highway 395, north of Highway 76, will remain closed until approximately 7 p.m. Friday evening, Sept. 5, for repair of a broken water pipeline.

The pipeline break occurred earlier in the day and caused the loss of approximately 250,000 gallons of water, said Chuck Sneed, operations and maintenance manager for RMWD.

“The break is adjacent to the Mobil station at Old Highway 395 and Highway 76,” Sneed said. “The break was in a pipe that was originally installed in 1978. A section of the pipe simply deteriorated.”
