Be careful what you wish for!

To all the letter writers who are so vociferous in their attacks on President Bush (Robert Green, J. Howard Crews and Jon Monday come to mind), an Obama presidency would be like going from the frying pan into the fire.

A major policy initiative which has not received sufficient attention in the media is the union “card check” scheme, which would do away with the secret ballot elections for union authorization as the bargaining agent at companies. Obama supported the bill in the Senate for the card check and was even listed as a co-sponsor.

With the well-known practice of unions resorting to intimidation, it is totally unacceptable to do away with a secret ballot in a democratic society. Obama’s high-minded rhetoric about being for the people is pure hypocrisy when he panders to special interests like unions.

He is also against free trade and “right to work” laws, both of which have been shown to be an overall economic benefit. Research reported by the Wall Street Journal showed that states with right to work laws had more GDP growth and higher individual income than those that do not.

Why would he go against proven successes except to pander to union leaders? It is all about power, not the welfare of the workers. And the union leaders are big donators to Obama’s campaign.

We live in an imperfect world and McCain is not perfect but in an evaluation of personal integrity he is head and shoulders above Obama.
