FPUD charges are outrageous

The new water meters FPUD installed take less time to read. One employee told me it takes one day in De Luz to read the meters rather than three days. The operations and sewer charges are not justifiable but outrageous. Supposedly, they were saving us money by installing the “sewer burning mechanism and the new meters.” Who dropped the ball in estimating the actual costs versus actual savings?

I went to a meeting last December discussing raises in water and sewer. Not once did they say anything about raising the customer service fee. I, like the lady who was abashed regarding a senior citizen’s discount, was made a fool of. That is why I did not attend the meeting in June. Lewinger is not the person to lead FPUD. We need to elect a new council in order to say goodbye to Lewinger.

I understand the matter of retirement funds arose at the meeting. I worked for a government contractor for 17 years. I planned for retirement by putting money in an IRA and also had to contribute to my medical coverage and pension plan. Why does FPUD cover all of these entirely? Look at other companies, cities and work places. What are they doing? Don’t tell me it is difficult to find qualified employees. That is a farce.

We have one thing possible to look forward to in the future. If Obama gets elected, he has promised to take 50 to 60 percent of Lewinger’s gross salary.
