SAN FRANCISCO — Douglas Smith, a longtime Fallbrook resident and a graduate of the Fallbrook High School Class of 1964, has been selected as California Theatre Educator of the Year by the California Educational Theatre Association (CETA). He will be honored at the organization’s annual conference in San Francisco on October 18.

Smith taught drama at Fallbrook High School for eight years in the 1970s and has been a teacher in the Poway Unified School District for more than 20 years. He has served as head of the drama department at both Mt. Carmel and (currently) Westview High School.
