Student needs help getting to inauguration

I am a freshman at Fallbrook High School. I was recently invited by People to People Student Ambassadors Program to attend the 2009 Presidential Inauguration.

A trip to this historic event is an opportunity that has never been offered before. The trip includes spending six days in Washington, DC, exploring the history of our nation’s capital and learning about leadership, government and history.

People to People is an ambassadorship program that was founded by President Eisenhower in hopes of bringing people together around the world through their culture and history. The Student Ambassadors represent their school, community, state and country while traveling abroad.

Two years ago, I was selected to represent the US on a trip to England and France. During this trip, I was able to see many historic sites, attend a session of parliament and visit Omaha Beach, which is remembered for D-Day. It was an experience that I will never forget because it taught me the importance of knowing history and understanding other cultures.

In order to make this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity happen, I am in need of financial support. I have already earned and paid $300 to reserve my space for this trip. The total cost for the trip, not including airfare, is $2,500.

I am more than willing to work for any donations and, in return, I would like to do a presentation to show what I experienced and learned from my stay in DC. Thank you for your support.
