Boys & Girls Clubs event 'Off the Chain!'

FALLBROOK — The Boys & Girls Clubs (BGC) of North County’s National Day for Kids event, held September 20 at the Ingold Unit, was a huge success.

“We had over 850 children and their parents enjoying the atmosphere. It really was an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The staff at the Boys & Girls Clubs of North County did a great job. I’m so proud of their hard work,” said Lisa Ware, director of operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of North County.

BGC Day for Kids is a day set aside each year to celebrate and honor America’s children by spending meaningful time with them. It’s all about celebrating kids.

Research shows that when an adult spends meaningful time with kids, it helps children develop a positive self-image and a sense of belonging, usefulness and purpose.

Spending meaningful time with a child was easy to do at the Day for Kids. The BGC had many interactive activities for kids of all ages. There were tournaments in the games room, a giant ‘capture the flag’ game in the gym, staff-versus-kids dodge ball, face painting, carnival games, swimming, Super Slides and plenty of free food.

“Be sure to mark your calendar for next year’s event,” said Ware. “The Day for Kids is always on the third Saturday in September.”
