Hands-on cleaning done at community center

FALLBROOK — As part of Volunteer San Diego’s 17th annual Hands On San Diego event, 30 volunteers spent the morning of Saturday, September 27, at Fallbrook Community Center doing cleaning and fixing-up work.

The volunteers replanted planters at the front of the building, staked down straw wattle, cleaned tables, washed windows, power-washed the back of the building and the front entrance, cleaned and power-washed the play equipment, weeded, raked and swept.

Volunteer Day organizer Ann Anderson was especially impressed by the high school students who showed up to help. She thought they did a great job, saying, “They worked hard and completed every task with very little adult supervision and they all stayed until the end. We need more youth in our communities like these kids.”

Materials and help were provided by Hands On San Diego, Grangetto’s, Butler Landscape, Frazee Paint and Mission Resource Conservation District. Lunch was donated by Friends of Fallbrook Community Center.
