Homecoming Week comes to a close

This past week was Homecoming Week at Fallbrook High School, which meant school spirit was at an all-time high.

The week began with College Gear Day as the dress-up day and mascot challenge for the class competition. This dress-up day had a huge turnout and started the week out great.

Tuesday was Neon Day, so students from each class dressed up in a different neon color. On Wednesday the school dressed up for “When I Grow Up” Day. Many people came as doctors, nurses, vets and teachers.

Then Thursday was Jungle Day to go along with the theme of the Homecoming Dance. Students dressed up in jungle shirts or wore animal-print clothing.

Finally, on Friday the school wore the colors of red and white to promote their school spirit and to cheer on the football team.

The ASB hosted the Homecoming pep rally, which included performances by the teachers, cheerleaders, field hockey players and football players. Also, there was an annual pump-up speech by Coach Madden and a Homecoming Court competition.

After the pep rally, many students began working to prepare for the Homecoming ceremonies and decorations. Those who helped out included the ASB members and the top 25 people who put in the most hours from each class toward the community service project.

As game time neared, the ASB honored the top 25 and then the Homecoming game versus Rancho Buena Vista took center stage. As the Warrior team led the Longhorns at halftime, the crowds were pumped.

At halftime, the awards for the community service were given out and the princesses were honored along with crowning of the queen. Another highlight was the announcement of the Grand Marshal, Thomas Pack.

The community service “returning to our roots” project was a success and it was highlighted by a video before and after the game.

The winner of the best service project at Live Oak Park was the junior class, who revamped the softball field. All classes did a phenomenal job with their services to the community.

Finally, the queen was announced and Julia Fitzmaurice was crowned Homecoming Queen.

The final highlight of the halftime show was a video from Jacob Robinson, who thanked the community for their support. The game resumed and the Warriors pulled out a victory for Homecoming and for Jake.

The following day, Saturday, October 11, the ASB hosted the Homecoming Dance, which was themed “Welcome to the Jungle.” The decorations were superb and there was a great turnout.

At the dance the senior class officers held a ceremony where they crowned the Homecoming King, Jacob Robinson. He had videotaped another message which thanked everyone for putting him on court and delighted the crowd when he spoke on the phone following the announcement that he was king.

Overall, the Homecoming game and dance of 2008 were a big success thanks to the hard work of all of the spirited students of Fallbrook High!
