Joseph "PapaJoe" Rollins

Joseph “PapaJoe” Rollins, 95, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2008, at Westminster retirement community in Lake Ridge, VA. Born November 21, 1912, he lived the majority of his life in California and more than 25 years at Rancho Monserate, in San Diego County, until 2004.

Joe worked for more than 30 years at Northrop Grumman in Los Angeles and was also a travel agent for many years. He had been retired for over 30 years. He was married for 60 years to Frances Rollins, who passed away in 1999.

Joe was a member of the Fallbrook United Methodist Church and active in the Westchester Elks Lodge #2050, where he was a member for over 52 years serving as the Exalted Ruler from 1969 to 1970 and Grand Esquire from 1973 to 1974.

He lived a very full and active life traveling, golfing, going on walks and gardening.

PapaJoe is survived by daughter and son-in-law JoAnn and Frank Ridolphi, VA; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Janie Rollins, Northridge, CA; grandchildren Julianne Freakley, VA, Monica Mitchell, NC, Chris Ridolphi, TN, Mendy Mattingly, San Diego, and Laura Nunziata, VA; and nine great-grandchildren, Buddy, Katelyn, Lauryn, Sara, Kate, Matt, Lucy, Gabe and Madelynn, with number 10 due in March.

He is preceded in death by three of his brothers, his wife and his daughter Judy Mattingly.
